Take the leap and the net will appear

Taking the leap to start training full time and leave my position as the Health and Wellness Fitness Educator at BCBS was the scariest thing I’ve done in a LONG time.  I was leaving a steady income, a retirement plan, and health insurance to CHANGE LIVES and make a greater impact on the world.  That meant inconsistent income, building a clientele, starting a new retirement plan and paying for my own high risk insurance deductible.  I was scared, but invigorated at the same time.  I wrote my business plan, designed my name/logo, developed a rate plan and mission statement all in one day.  I was on FIRE!  I just had to pull the trigger—so I did.  I gave my notice and literally 2 weeks later I was my own boss personal training inside of my home.   I jumped and the net appeared.  It was truly amazing, people just came into my life needing help and I was ready to help them!  It took me awhile to realize that there is never “the perfect time” to do anything.  The time is always now.  Not now means not ever.  I knew I was ready to make an impact and there would never be the perfect time so I lept.  Do I regret it?  That’s a HELL no!  Best thing I’ve ever done for me, my life, my purpose, my why.  Life is too short to NOT leap.  The time is NOW!  Why wait?

Happiness….

Are you happy?  I mean truly happy?  Like….happiness…..  what the heck is it anyway?  Is it living carefree without a care in the world?  Is it an emotion based on situations that surround you?  Is it something  you are constantly seeking to find?  Well…for me happiness is a choice and it comes from deep inside.  I think you can choose to be happy… or not.  You can choose to react to the situations surrounding you negatively or positively.  Your attitude reflects your happiness level.  You can choose to react with a good attitude or a bad attitude.  Regardless of my situations, I always try to come from a place of love and gratitude.  I’m not perfect by any means, but I HAVE found that giving thanks daily sets me up for an AMAZING day.  Writing my gratitude down cements my love and thanks for all the good things in my life.  Immediately I’m already happier just thinking about all my blessings.  One of the things I encourage ALL my clients to do is to journal.  The 5 minute journal LITERALLY takes 5 minutes of your day and gets you off on the right foot.  You should try it!  It’s so freeing!!  Love and happiness to EVERYONE! xoxo

The road less traveled

The road less traveled is always the hardest to travel.  It takes fortitude, due diligence and discipline to break trail.  It’s discipline that encourages movement forward into the unknown, the “uncomfortable zone”.  Don’t confuse motivation with discipline.  Discipline comes from within–it comes from traveling MANY less traveled roads, it comes from practice and routine.  Sometimes it’s hard to stay focused on the road less traveled, but the rewards are a huge and worthwhile.  Motivation on the other hand comes from the outside.  Motivation wanes when the road becomes too arduous to follow, or mundane.  So the road becomes rocky, full of grooves and overgrown.  Because motivational rewards are short lived and often forgotten it’s easy to return to the road most traveled.  It’s familiar and comfortable.  Which road will be the one chosen today?  The road less traveled or the familiar one?

Mini retreat time

Just yesterday I hosted a mini retreat for my Empowered Living year long coaching program clients.  We foam rolled, stretched and then listened to a guided meditation on muscle relaxation.  And of course we can’t forget a nutritious breakfast of Banana/egg muffins, and Scones.  Thank you Rhonda, Siobhan and Kristen (we missed you) for saying YES to you!!  What a special way to get Sunday kicked off to a great start.  

Here’s a GREAT muscle relaxation technique you can employ anytime ANYWHERE when you’re feeling tense or anxious.

  • Clench the muscle that is tense, hold for 6 seconds and listen to it, take note of what it is telling you.  Focus on that muscle and keep breathing, do not hold your breath.  Then release and feel the difference in the tension.  Take a mental note of how different it feels and then give thanks.  Repeat for all muscles that are bothering you at the time.  Here’s to relaxation.

Can I just brag a little?

First of all—this is FISH!  Yup!  Fish, Mahi Mahi to be exact.  I never used to really like to eat fish, let alone COOK it.  But, having all the right staples on hand sure makes it easier to make a KILLER fish dish!

Lemon pepper Mahi Mahi

  • Place 2 Mahi Mahi fillets in a pan

  • Pour lemon oil over top of each fillet

  • Sprinkle each fillet with Pink Himalayan salt, garlic powder,  onion powder, lemon pepper

  • Place 1/2 tsp. grass fed butter on each fillet

  • Cook on medium heat until it starts to bubble, pour in a splash of water and cover.  Cook for no more than 5 minutes.

Don’t judge me…

It hasn’t always been easy for me.  There are plenty of days that I wake up and don’t feel like working out, eating right, being happy.  There are days I just don’t feel like being a cheerleader, a motivator, an educator, a wife, a mom, ALIVE.  But throughout the years I have come to realize that THOSE are the days I NEED “it” the most.  I NEED to workout, to eat clean, spread positivity, be a cheerleader, educator, mom, wife ALIVE!!!  Those are the days I am MOST thankful for because they make me realize how fortunate I am to be able to even HAVE that choice.  Some people don’t!  There are ALWAYS people worse off then me.  They CAN’T workout, they CAN’T eat clean, they just don’t have that luxury or where-with-all to choose health!  How blessed I am to be able to CHOOSE health and be able to share my knowledge with others.  Are you unmotivated, need a push… accountability… guidance, where-with-all?   Apply for a free 10 minute call today to find out how you can have it all!

The web of life

I had the privilege of watching Charlotte build her amazing web in less than an hour. I was mesmerized by her athleticism, her tenacity and her artistic ability.  Every time I thought I knew what her next move was going to be, she would completely go in a different direction.  If you look closely at the pattern you can see where she changed directions… Then I thought of all the times I had destroyed a web only to see it rebuilt the next day.  I likened it to the web of life that we weave daily.  We head in one direction on a mission and then BOOM, change of plans and we have to completely switch to a different direction. Sometimes our webs are completely destroyed and we have to start over and just like the spider, we do… but sometimes it’s not easy starting over.  Sometimes we don’t have a good place to anchor our web, so we put it off.  The more we put off starting over, the harder it is to start over.  If we just had a good anchor–something to get us started….
