Throwback Thursday!

šŸ“£Back in the good old cheerleader days, I dabbled in anorexia and bulimia. Yep! There, I said it! Whew!

šŸ˜ž I don't talk much about it because...well...shame mostly. I really thought I was fat. I wanted to fit in. I wanted to be cool. I would literally drink a TAB and call it lunch! Seriously right?

It's funny to look back at that because, first of all, I'm TERRIBLE at purging, hate everything about it, so what it led to was binging and NOT purging. Welcome the beginning of many years of confusion and weight gain. šŸ˜¤

My high school years were some of the best and worst years of my life. I'm sure many can relate. They were filled with social acceptance, drinking to fit in, basically doing things that just didn't feel right in my gut--but who listens to their gut at that age anyway?!

Fast forward to many lessons learned and listening to their gut, I've realized that it's not worth it to "fit in", ignore your gut, do whatever it takes to be socially accepted. To this day, I try to listen to my gut--if it doesn't feel right about what I'm being told, what I'm reading or what I'm seeing, I question it.

šŸ˜ It's a challenge to go against the grain and not follow the crowd, but I have to say I'm healthier for it!!

Moral of the story: LISTEN TO YOUR GUT!
