There are no words to describe our last night in Tuscany, Italy. This is what we got to look at while attending Opera in the kitchen.  We got to prepare our own meal consisting of:  Carrot soufflé, pasta, and apple crumble.  WOW was it ever good!!  We were treated to an opera complete with a harp player.  Just absolutely breathtaking!  And can I just say….this picture is NOT filtered!

Do you keep repeating the same weight loss mistakes over and over again?  I get it.  I really do.  It’s easy to do when there’s so much information out there:  Keto, Paleo, South Beach, HCG, Whole 30, Atkins, Raw food, Vegan, the list goes on and on.  I’ve literally tried EVERY diet out there and it’s so easy to get stuck in the weight loss yo-yo lose it, gain it, lose it gain it.  It’s a sad, depressing and lonely place to be.  I HATED the game, because I just didn’t understand how to play.

I LOVE prizes!  Especially when I get to give them out!  I thought it would be fun to hold a 4 week challenge with me clients.  Each week there’s a different challenge with a different prize.  Oh JOY! 

Week 1 was a Bad Ass Burpee challenge.  It was only 7 days, but on day 1 they had to do 5 burpees and each day had to add 5 more.  Pretty easy and fun right?  HA!  Congrats to Bad Ass Samantha H. for capturing the Bad Ass Burpee prize. 

Week 2 challenge was eat vegan all week and post a pic of the meal.  Now THAT’S a true challenge if you’re a meat lover!  Congrats to Jacquelyn G. for nailing it! 

Week 3 challenge is the workout challenge.  Every time they workout, they have to post a sweaty selfie and tag us (me and my assistant Samantha). Winner yet to be determined!

Week 4 challenge is going to be the BIGGEST one yet.  It’s the logging challenge.  Log food every day, every meal for 7 days straight.  WHAAAAAAT?

Do you constantly feel like you’re in a tug of war with your brain?  I want to eat this….NO, I can’t eat this!  I’m just gonna eat this, NO I’ll totally regret it.  I’ll start eating clean tomorrow, NO I won’t who am I kidding.  I’ll start NEXT week!  hahahaha

What would it be like to just hop on a paddle board, do a handstand and have someone capture it on video?  Well, ask Tim–that’s him out there.  This my friends is a HUGE testament to what working out can do for a person.  Does he workout every day?  Nah, does he do it enough to maintain his strength YAH!  That’s all you gotta REALLY do!  You HAVE to strength train AT LEAST two times a week.  The whole adage:  use it or lose it really does apply here!  (It didn’t hurt that he had quite an audience)  haha!

These are the times that I’m MOST proud of my amazing queens.  It’s when they literally learn about their bodies and how to change their lives to NOT be in pain anymore!  Check out Sherry’s transformation.  ESPECIALLY her non-scale wins.  Just think what it would be like to eat food and NOT have a gut ache!!

Nonscale wins: my gut health was my biggest win. Before Anneliese Swingle I was gassy, bloated, belly aches and even nauseous ever day!! We found out I can’t have nuts and we rebuilt my gut health. I have energy to keep going all day no headaches from caffeine. Also another big one was learning this is not a diet it’s a lifestyle change!

Group CYCLE is ON today OUTSIDE!  WHAT??  Yup, you heard right!  We are OFFICIALLY out of the Octane studio and working our way INTO Fuel’s main building.  So BRING your sunscreen, lip balm, sun glasses as we ROCK OUT (literally) to some tunes!  (IT’S GONNA BE SO FUN!!)

The hardest thing you might do today could be getting out of bed.  ORRRRRR a push up row!  Let’s break down what’s “really” happening here:

  • you’re in a plank position with hands on dumbbells
  • you’re supporting your body weight only on your hands and toes
  • you’re bringing your body weight closer to the ground where the gravitational pull is greater
  • you’re pushing away from gravity while pulling a weight into your hip pocket 
  • you’re stabilizing the pull with just one arm now

Seems easy in theory, but there’s a TON going on all at the same time.

Awhile ago I posted about what to do when you’re injured and shared with you a little bit about my injury/journey to recovery.  This is a follow up to that post. 

I am happy to report I am 98% pain free!  Tip:  Doing corrective work PAYS OFF! 

Do you sit all day??  Can I just say…sitting for long periods of time KILLS your back, core, hip flexors, butt and slows down your metabolism.  I know first hand all to well about this.  Here’s what I did to heal my “butt”.  I hope this helps ANYONE dealing with back pain, piriformis issues, psoas issues or all of the above.  

  • Every 30 minutes I got up and moved
  • I worked my transverse abdominis daily with corrective exercises
  • I foam rolled my piriformis, IT band and quads daily
  • I did IT band corrective exercises
  • I stretched DAILY!

All of these things coupled with LOTS of water and natural anti-inflammatories (fish oil and Vit. C)  has really made a huge difference in my journey to healing.  Feel free to reach out if you have questions, I would love to help.  Cheers to health and healing!

If you haven’t heard….I’m challenging you to do 100 push ups in 100 days!  Yup—challenge ON.  So, I thought I’d better at least show you what a perfect push up looks like and what the modifications are so you have NO excuses NOT to participate!

In a nutshell:

  • Don’t let your shoulder blades wing (stay strong in the plank position, meaning shoulder blades tucked in tight, don’t sag into them)
  • Belly button pulled in toward the back of the spine
  • Keep body flat as a board
  • No butts in the air
  • No bellies sagging to the ground
  • No arching the low back
  • Bend elbows to a 90 degree 
  • Modify on your knees or against a coffee table or wall
